City Manager

Eric A. Duthie is a native Arizonan and came to St. Johns via a career as a Police Commander in Douglas and Police Chief in Hayden. Eric served as School Resource Officer in the St. Johns Police Department until being appointed City Manager in April, 2003.

Eric, his wife Susan, a teacher in the St. Johns Unified School District, and their children chose St. Johns after exploring opportunities around Arizona. After only one visit to St. Johns, the decision became simple and clear. “The Town of Friendly Neighbors” is an appropriate descriptive motto for this community that prides itself in their close-knit, family-first attitude; the highest quality school system; a city government which cares deeply about its residents and guests; all complimented by the peace and security provided by capable and competent emergency services combine to provide the tranquil, satisfying quality of life that most people only dream of.

Preparing for, and meeting the future, through a strengthened infrastructure, professional development and economic growth, while maintaining the “small town” atmosphere is the focus of Eric’s task as City Manager. Come visit us for a day and you’ll decide that St. Johns will be your choice for a better life.
