The City of St. Johns is governed by a council of 6 members and a Mayor. Council elections are held every 2 years, in a staggered fashion (3 councilmembers the first election, followed by 4 councilmembers the next election 2 years later.) Council members serve on the Council for 4 years, and elect the Mayor from among themselves. There is no term limit for elected officials in St. Johns.

Mayor Cristian R. Patterson

A resident for over 12 years, Councilman Patterson ran for council because he has "...a strong attachment to the community, and a desire to participate in the improvement and growth of the city." An engineer, Councilman Patterson sees that the success of St. Johns in the future will be based on a more vibrant business community and broader based economy.

Councilman Monty Long

Councilman Long is a retired police officer and has lived in St. Johns for 25 years.  He likes the quiet life of rural Arizona and the friendly people of St. Johns.  His goals are to keep St. Johns a safe place to live and raise children, to support our Mayor in attracting more business to St. Johns, and make a good decisions that will benefit our community.

Councilman Delos Bond

I have lived in St. Johns for the past 37 years with the exception of a 3 year absence in the mid 80's.  I have owned a home in St. Johns for the past 30 years, and along with my wife of also thirty years have raised five children here in St. Johns.

I have been employed by Apache County for the last 17 years, and have worked in the Engineering Department all of that time.  I have been in working in the engineering or survey field for most of my adult life.

I enjoy reading, working outside, and writing poetry.

I ran for the City Council because I feel that our city needs continued growth for the future.  We need jobs for our children, infrastructure for the future.  Mostly we need a dream for the future and a plan to work for that dream.  We live in a prime area.  We are able to step out on our front porches and watch the wonderful changes of all four season.  We have good schools, little crime, and great people.

I believe with a positive attitude toward growth and a careful plan, we can continue here in St. Johns with our calm way of life, and at the same time provide a future and a reason for our children to work and raise their children here.

I believe if the rest of the world knew of our good people, our perfect climate, and of our quiet way of life, our city's growth would have limitless possiblities.

Councilman Ross Overson, Jr.
