St. Johns Municipal Airport
The St. Johns Municipal Airport has two lighted (dusk to dawn), hard surfaced runways.
The airport sits at an elevation of 5,730-feet, and the longest runway is 5,600-feet, with UNICOM approaches. A new
3,000 square foot terminal along with additional hangar facilities encourages
private and commercial trade in the region. General aviation and jet fuels are
available. The airport is owned and operated by the City, which provides courtesy vans to flights coming into St. Johns. Available on a first come, first served basis, the courtesy vans are free for use. St. Johns' location among three major airways makes it an ideal location as a stopping and rest point for flights between the south central United States and the west coast. The airport operating hours are 7:00AM to 5:00PM, but the airport manager Gary Liston is on call 24 hours a day. Pilots can contact the airport through a UNICOM frequency of 122.8. The St. Johns Airport is also host to a number of special events throughout
the year. Each Labor Day Weekend, the airport shuts down to become the grounds for the
Indy car races. Summers
